HomeWhat is Brief Therapy?Who is the therapist?

This practice is owned and operated by Toni Tumonis. I am board certified in Adult Psychiatric Nursing, and licensed by the Maryland Board of Nursing as a Nurse Psychotherapist.  I am also a clinical hypnotherapist.

Previous jobs have included being a member of a Mobile Crisis Team in Ann Arundel county, conducting brief family therapy on the Adolescent Behavioral Health unit at Laurel Hospital, and working as a staff nurse on the in-patient units at Suburban Hospital and Prince George's Community Hospital, as well as the outpatient mental health unit at the Clinical Center at NIH.

I also practice Ki-Aikido, and hold the rank of Shoden in Ki Development.  Ki (also known as chi in China) can be thought of as the universal life force.  We all have ki, but most people, especially in western cultures, have lost touch with their ability to access their ki.  Developing one's ki enables one to remain calm, even in adversity, and to sometimes accomplish what might seem impossible.

Hypnotherapy shares many similaries with Eastern philosophies, as it allows one to access the subconcious mind to better deal with life's problems.
